 f dem Rücken des Fohlens aus. Jesus nahm Platz und ritt nach Jerusalem.\n
 \nAuf dem Weg dorthin versammelte sich eine immer größer werdende Mensch
 enmenge\, um Jesus zu empfangen. Einige Menschen breiteten ihre Kleider vo
 r ihm aus\, andere schnitten Zweige von den Palmen ab und streuten sie auf
  den Weg. Sie jubelten ihm zu:\nHosanna dem Sohn Davids! Gesegnet sei er\,
  der kommt im Namen des Herrn. Hosanna in der Höhe!\n\n(Mt 21\,9 EU)\nDoc
 h Jesus weiß bereits\, dass er verraten wird und sterben muss. Ebenso sag
 t er voraus\, dass er nach drei Tagen von den Toten auferstehen werde.\n\n
 In Jerusalem geht Jesus in den Tempel\, heilt Menschen und verkündet sein
 e Lehre. Schonungslos kritisiert er die damals führenden religiösen Grup
 pen\, etwa die Pharisäer. Er wirft ihnen Machtanhäufung und Gottvergesse
 nheit vor. Seine Lehre ist unbequem und deutlich\, aber viele sind von ihm
  begeistert. Die Pharisäer jedoch beschließen\, dass er sterben muss.\n\

 haben in der Bibel eine besondere Bedeutung\, die den Einzug Jesu zu einem
  symbolträchtigen Ereignis macht. Mit dem Ritt auf einem Esel erfüllte s
 ich die Voraussage des Propheten Sacharja aus dem Alten Testament:\nJuble 
 laut\, Tochter Zion! Jauchze\, Tochter Jerusalem! Siehe\, dein König komm
 t zu dir. Gerecht ist er und Rettung wurde ihm zuteil\, demütig ist er un
 d reitet auf einem Esel\, ja\, auf einem Esel\, dem Jungen einer Eselin. (
 Sach 9\,9 EU)\nWährend das Pferd als Reittier im Krieg eingesetzt wurde u
 nd Luxus und Hochmut symbolisiert\, ist der Esel das Sinnbild für die Bes
 cheidenheit und Gewaltlosigkeit des messianischen Friedensfürsten.\n\nDie
  Palme ist bereits in der Antike ein Symbol der Huldigung und des Sieges. 
 Für die römischen Besatzer dürfte der Empfang Jesu mit Palmzweigen und 
 seinem Ritt auf dem Esel einer Provokation gleichgekommen sein.\n\n[/fusio

 orabend mit einer Festandacht. Während der Frühmesse werden mit einer sp
 eziellen Prozession (arm. Andastan) Oliven-\, Palm- bzw. Weidenzweige gese
 gnet und an die Gemeinde verteilt. Die Anwesenden bringen die Zweige nach 
 Hause und bewahren sie zu Hause auf\, bis zum nächsten Palmsonntag.\n\nEs
  ist in Armenien in den letzten Jahren zu einem schönen Brauch geworden\,
  mit wilden Feldblumen Kränze zu winden\, welche die Kinder bzw. Jugendli
 chen auf ihren Häuptern tragen.\n\nDer Palmsonntag wurde auf Anordnung Se
 iner Heiligkeit Garegin II.\, Katholikos Aller Armenier\, zum Tag der Segn
